Extreme Couponing Tip: How to Save with Price Guarantees

Some grocery stores (such as Giant Eagle, Stop & Shop, and some Krogers and Albertsons) guarantee that if an item doesn't ring up at the posted or advertised price, you get it for free or at a discount. Pay attention to the checkout screen and point out any discrepancies to the cashier. Also double check your receipt after paying. Check with your local store for availability or rules.

Here a two examples of stores' policies regarding price guarantees:

Giant Eagle Accu-Scan policy: If the charge price of a product appears on your register tape at an amount higher than the displayed, posted, or advertised price, you will receive the first improperly scanned item free.

Stop & Shop Price Guarantee: If any item scans higher than the price marked, advertised, unit price tagged or signed, you are entitled to one unit of the item FREE. Any additional items of the same product in the order will be honored at the lower price.
